Akiko Shirotani
Born in 1975, currently living in Shiga Prefecture, she has been a member of Studio Yamanami since 1997. Normally an introvert, she started painting around 2015. During her free time from working at the cafe, she would join other groups in creative activities, which is how she started creating her artwork. Normally, she had difficulty being confident in herself, but when visitors to the facility praised her drawings and spoke to her, she gradually became more motivated to work and began to find joy in expressing herself. Her motifs are chosen from magazines and art books, and mainly consist of people and animals. The composition and colors are born from her own images.
